After a few (well maybe WAY more than a few) glasses of cava in the lounge, I made my way to the A and B gate area and met the boys right infront of our gate. I had been heavily consuming cava which led to a VERY hard pass out on the plane....for all 3 of us.Apparently Jonathan did exactlty what I did on the flight over and didn't sleep at all :)
At touch down, we walked down the stairs to a bus that drove us to the baggage claim. Yes, it's very old school when it comes to Ibiza airport operations. A bit of a pain to carry your luggage down stairs but also a very cute reminder of what it was like when I flew island to island in Hawaii while growing up.
When we got to our hotel, we were pleasantly surprised. You know how the pictures of the hotel on their website are usually massively photoshopped or fake? Well, the pictures were very true to the actual hotel. You can see the marina as soon as you walk into the lobby - it was simply gorgeous. The room set up was perfect. We got a 3 person room. We walk into the room, immediate right is our bathroom, then my nook, then a doored room for the boys - exactly what we needed! The walls are freshly painted/maintained, furniture is actually very nice as well and unlike the other hotel we stayed at last year, it's very clean. The floors don't feel like they're dusty and icky - they actually feel waxed! Here is a link to my home for a few days :) http://ibizacorso.com/
We droppped our bags off and headed out as it was already almost 930pm. We debated a water taxi so headed across the street to the marina...a very cute litle restaurant named Cafe Sydney (http://cafesidney.com/). We wanted a cava drink (surprise!!) so the very beautiful bartender made us a drink made of flower water, cava and sparkling water - it was THE perfect refresher to start the still 85 degree night. We watched her make some super fancy drink in a GIANT glass called a Martini Royale. It was made with a Martini brando vodka (I believe?), cava again and fresh mint. She made one too many and offered one to us complimentary. Of course we accepted :). It was delicious but definitely REALLY helped kick start our night. Somehow 11pm rolled around and it was too late for a water taxi, so we just took a normal taxi across the way. Last year, we made many friends with some owners/workers in the restaurant and bars in downtown so we decided to pay them a visit! We ate at the one of the restaurants that we fell in love with last year called Pomelo Pomelo. The server AND owner remembered us from last year. Jonathan and I shared a paella and Barton got the chicken dish we both had last year. They have this incredible aioli sauce for the bread that I just love..it's prob made of just mayo and tons of garlic but screw it, I'm on vacation :) Once done with dinner, we headed to our favorite bar called Sunrise bar aka the swing bar. They have super cute rope swings inside the bar that I just LOVE! The owner of that bart (that the boys fell in love with) also remembered us AND what I loved to drink. We spent a short time there since were all just so beaten up from the trip over - it was just enough time to watch a few of the club's parades come through (pictures to be posted later). We headed back to get a taxi and passed by a spanish bathing suit shop that we shopped in last year - the worker there remembered us and commented on my super short hair. Then, we passed by a Diesel store where they were out of Jonathan's shoes last year (and he threw a fit) so naturally, the worker there also remembered us. On the marina, we stopped for ice cream (for Jonathan) and cava (for me) and watched all the craziness go down in the streets - I wish the US was like this! So free and so fun.
This morning we woke up just in time for breakfast...it ended at 10am and we were there at 955am. The breakfast here is much different than the US' normal eggs and bacon. They serve fresh fruits, thinly slicked meats (salami, turkey, jamon, etc), thinly sliced cheeses, a few types of breads, assorted pastries, yogurt, and very fresh juices (orange, pineapple or peach). It was delicious as always. Once back at the room, the boys headed to the pool but I opted to stay in. I am darker than dark and could use a very good catch up sleep!
Now off to lunch...at 4pm :)
Love the blog!!! Great way to document the trip, I love how you are remembered at all these spots, thats the best way to travel. Can't wait to see pics, travel safe!
